How I earn my keep
I'm an iOS developer. That means that I write software for the Apple iPhone and iPad. The software I write is often used only within the company I write it for, but sometimes I also have software that makes it into the App Store.
I use a language called Objective-C, which is an object-oriented language based on C. Apple also recently introduced a new language that we developers can use, called Swift. Swift is very different from Objective-C but has a lot of new language features that make it powerful too. So far, I don't much like coding in Swift by itself, but fortunately, Apple has provided a way for us to use the two languages together. I don't really do it, but it's also possible to use C++
I've worked with several companies over the years and have written quite a few apps, both for them and for myself. Here's a quick rundown of a few of them:
| App name | Description |
|---|---|
| Tap Memory | A game that tests your memory. It shows multiple cirlces with numbers in them, then the numbers shortly disappear. You then need to tap on the circles in ascending numberical order. |
| i.TV | A TV guide app. 'Nuf said. |
| Native | A social language translation platform that allows you to get translations from other people when Google Translate just doesn cut it. If you know more than one language, you can also volunteer to help. |
